Introducing Clutter

In Office 365 and Outlook 2016, Microsoft introduced a new feature called Clutter.  As of November 1st, this features is NOT enabled by default.  So, what is Clutter?  Basically, the email server evaluates the messages you receive and your behavior towards them using machine learning.  If you don't open them, delete them, etc. Outlook will move them to a folder called Clutter with the intention of keeping your Inbox clean and focused on only those messages that are important to you.  It learns and adapts.  If you find it moves something to the Clutter folder in error, right-click the message and choose Move to Inbox.  If you find something in your Inbox that could go into the Clutter folder, you should manually drag it to Clutter.  Nothing in the Clutter folder is deleted.  For me, the Clutter feature has worked exceptionally, taking my daily Inbox from 100+ messages to the 10-20 that are actually relevant.  Instructions to enable or disable Clutter are available here.

Office at Home

We have finalized the final technical details to allow students and employees to download Office 2016 on your Windows PC, Mac or mobile device from Office 365.  Each person can download and license up to 5 computers at once.  (Mobile apps don't count against the five.)  Go to hornet.emporia.edu and click "Get Microsoft Office" to gets started!

OneDrive Accounts - Personal vs. "emporia.edu"

OneDrive on the desktop has three different options for accounts that can be added.  After you install or sign in to your OneDrive client software, you'll automatically be synced to your employee OneDrive.  You'll see this in Windows File Explorer as "OneDrive - emporia.edu" in most cases.  (older clients may show it differently)
The second is OneDrive - Personal (which you'll see shows up in Windows File Explorer, as well).  This refers to a personal OneDrive account--NOT one associated with ESU.  For example, if you have an outook.com or hotmail.com email address for personal use, you could add it here and sync your files.  In most cases, you likely will never need or want to do this and can safely ignore it.

Finally, if you have the older OneDrive for Business client installed on your PC, you do not want to use this one.  Only use the client simply called "OneDrive".
